A production Django ERP running the entire operation of AandA. Twenty-one integrated modules, hash-chained audit log, real-time analytics, three Telegram bots and 25+ automated workflows.
We built the AandA Smart BI Platform to run our own operations, and we kept building until it did. Twenty-one integrated modules cover job intake, inventory management, procurement, payroll, HR, expenses, cash reconciliation, KPI dashboards, and executive reporting. Twenty-five automated workflows run in the background — daily backups, weekly digests, monthly reconciliations, retention SMS to lapsed customers, EOD Telegram summaries. Three Telegram bots handle CEO commands, staff approvals, and operations alerts.
The problem
Before Smart BI, AandA ran on spreadsheets. Cash reconciliation took the cashier two hours a night. Staff KPIs were invisible until month-end. Nobody knew about inventory variance until stock ran out. And when something went wrong, nobody could tell you when it went wrong without opening every workbook one by one.
The build
We chose Django as the framework and PostgreSQL as the single source of truth. Modular apps — one Django app per business domain — kept the codebase legible as it grew. Every write to the system chains cryptographically to the write before it, so tampering with history breaks the chain and raises an anomaly. Telegram became the delivery layer for every alert, approval, and digest — more reliable in Nigeria than email or SMS, and free at our volumes.
What it does now
End-of-day reconciliation is under five minutes. The Isolation Forest anomaly module watches every cash-variance event and alerts the CEO in 90 seconds when something surprising happens. A hash-chained audit log means auditors can prove no line was edited after the fact. The system has been continuously deployed since 2024 with zero downtime longer than a coffee break.
